In today’s world, we are constantly surrounded by magazines with beautiful designs and images. Our taste for the new and shiny often causes us to impulse buy and lust new things on the market. This is no different when it comes to Bathrooms! Statistics have shown that in Cardiff we love to update and get urges to redecorate our home including our bathroom every 4-5 years.  This doesn’t always have to cost a fortune and as we can see there’s a growing appreciation for the old and pre-loved. The choice out there is so vast and it’s not always easy to choose.

The key to bathroom suite shopping is to shop around. It’s best to set a budget and then look at different designs online and in house. You can pick up a really nice bathroom suite for £600 and this can reach up to £10,000 depending on the quality and where you shop.

Hiring a Plumber

Some plumbers will work on a fixed price and others on an hourly or day rate. On average Cardiff tiling prices start from £25 per square meter for wall tiling and £35 per square meter for floor tiling. Toilet and basin installation can start from £150 per unit. Bath and shower installations can cost from £200 per unit. You will also need to factor in your water pressure and if you need a shower pump. Shower pump installation can cost anything from £250 depending on the system you have. Changing you bath to a shower cubicle can start from £350. If you want to move your bathroom around this can affect the price. For example if you want to move your toilet this will depend on where your soil pipe is and how far it can be moved.

This weekend in Cardiff – The Easter Weekend in Cardiff. Cardiff is hosting the Anthony Joshua vs Joseph Parker boxing match, Easter Egg hunts and houses full to the brim with easter eggs. Whatever your plans, there is always something to do in the beautiful city of Cardiff. This is usually the time of year where we see the weather start to improve and Cardiff Bay becomes the popular spot.

As Cardiff is often host to many football and rugby matches in the Millennium Stadium and is a well known stag and hen do location. Lively and bustling is the best way to sum up the atmosphere of this area of Cardiff. It’s easy to get accommodation in Cardiff and if you want to be near the city centre and want a party pad within stumbling distance of a huge range of bars, nightclubs and restaurants in the city.

Recently weather conditions in Cardiff dampened party goers spirits. After experiencing the Beast from the East we now have another weekend of snow promised. This may not affect Cardiff

directly but parts of the valleys and other parts of Wales will definitely be affected.

2. Big Pit National Coal Museum – Mini miners can take part in the Easter egg trail around the lovely museum. They can learn the history of mining community, while having fun and then swap your completed trail for an Easter treat.

3. Cardiff Castle – Easter Hunt (Saturday, April 8 – Sunday, April 23)

4. There are lots of local community Easter egg hunts and activities going on in many areas in and around Cardiff.

What are Room Thermostats?

These will prevent your house from getting any warmer than you feel necessary. They will allow you to turn the heating on until the room reaches the required temperature you have set, and then off until the temperature drops again. Room thermostats need a free flow of air to sense the temperature and surroundings. They must not be blocked by furniture or curtains, or put near any heat sources.

Typically between 18 and 21 degrees is the recommended room temperature. You don’t need to turn your thermostat up when the weather gets colder outside. Your house will heat up to the set temperature regardless. Sometimes it takes a little longer on colder days, so you might just want to set your heating to come on earlier in the winter time.

What is a Programmable Room Thermostat?

A programmable room thermostat combines time and temperature controls and allows you to set different temperatures for different times of the day. You can have different temperatures in individual rooms by installing thermostatic radiator valves on individual radiators.

What are Thermostatic Radiator Valves or TRVs?

Thermostatic radiator valves do not control the boiler but they reduce the flow of water through the radiator which they are fitted to when the temperature goes above a certain setting. Set them to the level you want for the room; a lower setting uses less energy and so will save you money. N.B It’s best not to use radiator covers as they will trick the radiator into thinking the room and surrounding area is hotter than it is.

All in all, smart heating is the way of the future for the tech saavy and the not so tech saavy. Life in the heating world has become a little easier for us all but unfortunately the price will undoubtedly remain on  the expensive side!
